Substance Abuse is a Problem Afflicting Both Adults and Adolescents

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration reports, 22.2 million Americans ages 12 or older suffered from substance abuse in 2005. That is, 9.1% of the nation’s youth are facing a substance abuse disorder requiring intervention. However, only 2.3 million of the 22.2 million received the treatment they needed to remedy this problem in 2005.
Adolescents in Recovery (AIR), a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was developed with the vision of ameliorating this problem by helping those afflicted with and affected by addiction. AIR also provides help to those suffering with a myriad of other behavioral health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma.
AIR combines a comprehensive set of counseling services coupled with 12-step based recovery and social activities. Read Full Story
